In honour of this feast of the Exaltation of the Cross, here is a beautiful motet by Giaches (1535 ~ 1595), which dates back to 1581, when so many were rejecting the Cross as the efficacious sign of our Faith.
O crux benedícta, quæ sola fuísti digna portáre Regem cælórum et Dóminum, allelúia. – O blessed cross, which alone was found worthy to bear the King of heaven and the Lord! Alleluia!
